Significant research in the realm of renewable energy goes into developing ways to harness the energy of ocean waves and tides. One product of this research is a wave-power buoy called AquaBuoy, of section of which is shown here. The AquaBuoy is the product of research by a company called Finavera Renewables, based in Vancouver. The AquaBuoy tube measures about 12 feet in diameter. When complete, it sticks about 6 feet above the sea water and descends more than 70 feet below the surface. Waves press a buoy down, which creates pressure, which turns a turbine.
