The United States Postal Service is commemorating this year's IPY by issuing this souvenir sheet with two international rate postage stamps--one featuring the aurora borealis, the other, the aurora australis.
A similar program has been launched in France. And a book containing the unique, IPY commemorative stamps from eight countries--the U.S., Canada, Denmark, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden--is available through the USPS.
