Make your Internet Explorer more secure with the WOT add-on. Keep yourself safe from spyware, adware, spam, viruses, browser exploits, unreliable online shops, phishing, and other Internet scams. With the free WOT browser add-on, you can easily see the reliability of companies and websites. WOT will warn you and save your computer before you interact with a harmful site. WOT, Web of Trust, lets Internet users share their knowledge of websites, helping you stay in control when you surf the Web. Besides its users, WOT uses hundreds of trusted sources such as phishing site listings to keep you protected against rapidly spreading online threats. As you search with Google, you will see a tiny icon next to the Web link: green to go, yellow to slow down, red to stop. WOT has information on 20 million websites, and the reputation database is updated every 30 minutes. WOT ratings are shown also on Yahoo, Gmail, Wikipedia, and other sites. No registration is required.
Version 20080917 includes minor fixes to search integration and warnings.

- "Crowdsourced site ratings"
Consisting of a simple icon placed on your Firefox toolbar, WOT offers a drop-down menu displays all the ratings criteria, which are based on a color-coded scale. As you browse, the scale displays ratings based on the overall trustworthiness of the site, if it could be trusted as a business partner, as a keeper for personal info, or if it is safe for children. The ratings are based on the opinions of other users, and on databases of known fraudulent sites. We were able to browse as usual and pull ratings for each site that we browsed from the destination Web site as well as from Yahoo and Google search results. The scale allows you to click and drag a bar to reflect your own experience and opinion of a Web site, then auto-saves the rating. As backup, more information about each rated site can be gleaned online from WOT's reputation scorecards, where users can also comment. WOT for Firefox offers users a little peace of mind while browsing the Web and guidance through unfamiliar territory, though we still caution to use it in conjunction with other surfing safeguards.

Version: WOT for Internet Explorer 20080917
Pros: When I do a Google search WOT has a different color icon at the end of the web site. It has four different colors it has green, red, yellow, and gray.
1.Green is a good web site.
2. Red is a very dangerous web site.
3. Yellow is a questionable web site.
4 Gray is web sites that have not been tested.
WOT shows trustworthiness, vendor reliabilty, privacy, and child safety of a lot of web sites. And WOT will automatically block certain dangerous web sites.
Cons: WOT is almost as good as McAfee Site Advisor.

Pros: None whatsoever, maybe that it's free
Cons: What a crappy program. It blocks it's competitors websites so now I can't download the Advanced Searchbar.
Summary: Apparently they don't want you trying a better toolbar like the Advanced Searchbar which got a 5 star rating from Download.com/CNET and they only got a 4 star rating. Talk about being anti-competitive. They have way too many false positives. It basi... read more >>

"I don't like it. Don't download"
Pros: I saw no value to having this annoying toolbar installed.
Cons: Very annoying toolbar. Too many pop-ups and too many ads coming through it and it tried to make WOT my homepage.
Summary: It is a terrible program. Tryies to take over your homepage and all the ads make it adware. They deliver pop-ups on your computer all the time and it interfers with your email program it could also corrupt your hard drive from what I read on the Int... read more >>
