Publisher's description of Foxit Reader
From Foxit Software:The following is a list of compelling advantages of Foxit Reader: Incredibly small: The download size of Foxit Reader is just a fraction of Acrobat Reader 20 M size. Breezing-fast: When you run Foxit Reader, it launches instantly without any delay. You are not forced to view an annoying splash window displaying company logo, author names, etc. Annotation tool: Foxit Reader allows you to draw graphics, highlight text, type text and make notes on a PDF document and then print out or save the annotated document. Save fillable forms after filling them out so you can continue anytime. Text converter: You may convert the whole PDF document into a simple text file. High security and privacy: Foxit Reader highly respects the security and privacy of users and will never connect to the Internet without users' permission while other PDF readers often silently connect.
Version 3.0 build 1120 adds enticing multimedia design, attachment panel, thumbnail panel, layout panel, Metric unit support.

- "Light and easy"
To put it gently, Adobe Reader is a real pain in the hindquarters. It's monstrously large, slow to load, and includes many features most users will hardly ever need. Foxit PDF Reader 3.0 kills the bloat and throws in some useful features, such as multimedia support and content-sharing options, while still allowing you to quickly access your PDFs.
The interface mimics Adobe's, so you won't have to change your reading habits. In our test, the text readability was similar. The small program starts surprisingly fast compared with Adobe. You might need to fiddle a bit to get it to work with your Internet browser, but you can find help on Foxit's support forums. It's a nice touch that it opens PDFs from the Internet in their own Foxit window, instead of sucking resources from within the browser.
Foxit's biggest flaw in the old version was hogging memory and that has been corrected. Recent updates include fixing the hyperlink problem, multimedia support, printing highlighted-only sections, and tabbed PDF browsing, so you can read multiple PDFs simultaneously and with ease. Overall, unless you're tied to Adobe we strongly recommend this freeware competitor.

Version: Foxit Reader 3.0 build 1120
"Be-ware !!! Don't fail to un-check toolbars."
Pros: It works faster than the Adobe Reader
Cons: Be very careful when you install this product. Make sure you are not installing any additional software that is offered with this product -- you will be sorry.
Summary: During the install I failed to un-check the add Ask.com toolbar. The toolbar was added to my FireFox browser. The install changed my FireFox config settings to "redirect" any incomplete entry to Ask.com. Example: In the address bar if I put down... read more >>

Version: Foxit Reader 3.0 build 1120
Pros: SOUNDS like a Mozilla effort.
Cons: MalWare- I have two browsers. So ASK toolbar blithely installed (regardless of my wishes) in IE7 and MOZILLA got unceremoniously dumped- it simply stopped loading. Frustrating WASTE of time.
Summary: DON'T do It. I trusted the editors review, too. As a result, I got hijacked by ASK.com; Mozilla 2 would not load until I removed all ASK.com traces. Yet another trap sprung with the help of CNET. COME ON CNET! I ASK YOU; who can be trusted?

"It does what it's supposed to do."
Pros: free
fast
efficient
light weight
simple to configure
transparent
did I mention it's free?Cons: nothing to complain about
Summary: I've been using Foxit Reader for over three years (or however long they've been writing it) and I simply love it. It's brain-dead to download/install/use, it takes little space and is blazing fast.

Version: Foxit Reader 3.0 build 1120
Pros: It provides a source to read PDF files.
Cons: It hijacks all word files and caused me a big hassle when trying to print a "Word 2007" document. When I uninstalled Foxit it corrupted my M.S. files. It doesn't release shared files. Let me rephrase that! It bullies files. It doesn't share them.
Summary: Stay with Adobe or any program that doesn't want to take over your whole registry.

"You can remove 200mb of Adobe Reader 9 Bloatware"
Pros: Opens PDF files in seconds, prints PDF files, less than 7mb
Cons: Nothing, it works just fine.
Summary: Adobe Reader 9 has got to a ridiculous 204mb, if you want to open PDF files and print them Foxit Reader is a good option. At less than 7mb Foxit Reader doesn't need a permanently running 'fast-loader' to make it appear fast.
