Q
I've had a problem with red-eye in digital photos. I'm about to buy a new camera, and I wondered if you had any advice. Thanks for your time.

We get a lot of questions about red-eye. Most cameras have a red-eye-reduction feature (it blinks the flash a few times before you take the shot), and you can clean things up a bit after the fact with an image-editing program. But the only effective way to get rid of red-eye is by keeping the lens far enough away from the flash unit--something most point-and-shoot cameras don't do. Your best bet would be a model with a pop-up flash.
