Publisher's description of Avant Browser 10.0 build 158

From Avant Force:

Avant Browser allows users to browse multiple Web sites simultaneously and to block all unwanted pop-up pages and Flash ads automatically. The integrated cleaner helps users clear all traces and maintain privacy. The built-in Yahoo/Google search engines enable users to search for Web pages, images, groups, directories, lyrics, software, and news on the Internet. Avant Browser provides options for blocking the download of Flash media, pictures, video, sounds, and ActiveX components, so users can efficiently use their bandwidth and speed up page loading. All opened pages can be easily stopped, refreshed, closed, or arranged with one click. It also comes with built-in RSS reader. Its Similar Web sites Bar displays websites which are related to the opened Web pages.

  • "Ditch Internet Explorer"
Starting from the Internet Explorer engine, Avant Browser adds useful capabilities, such as grouped favorites, an RSS reader, and tabbed browsing. The first thing we noticed upon launch was the aesthetically pleasing skin that came as the default with Avant Browser, but you can choose from among many preloaded skins in the Tools menu. The tabbed-browsing feature lets you quickly switch among Web sites, rather than having to shuffle through several browser instances in the Windows taskbar. If you visit several Favorites often, you can save them as a group and open the whole group with one click. When you shut down the program, Avant Browser remembers which windows were open and launches them the next time it starts up. You also can automatically refresh all windows, or only the current one, at regular intervals. A simple pop-up blocker works in most cases, but it was powerless against some floating banners and other, more obscure pop-up methods. Overall, we found Avant Browser a great alternative to Internet Explorer, with useful features that make browsing even more efficient.

Version: Avant Browser 10.0 build 158

    "The ORIGINAL and the BEST!!!"

by Avant Savant on March 13, 2005

Pros: Easy to use; Great Interface; Highly customizeable; Forum to use for tips and suggestions. As suggested by a prior poster Avant is not a "Ripoff" of Advanced Browser. It's just the opposite! Here's proof from Avant's Forum: "Advanced Browser is an Authorised Branded Version of Avant which was Created by Anderson Che. Advanced was originally made for inhouse (Branded) use of the purchaser who subsequentally started offering it over the Internet."

"Stick with Avant as Advanced is no longer supported by Anderson so all it can do is DL a copy of Avant, just like you do, & rename it." So you see, Advanced is simply re-naming Avant and calling it their own. Not very nice! Long Live AVANT BROWSER!!!

Cons: Occasionally has errors but these are promptly attended to and corrected by the development team.

"High Speed, Customizable, Master of all Tabbed Browsers"

by trancegroup on March 9, 2005

Pros: There have been many browsers which attempt to provide multi-window browsing, but none offer the same degree of flexibility, control, customization and stability on IE's engine with the success that Avant provides. It is extremely robust and the new versions just get better and better, resulting in an extremely fluid and secure interface that works exceptionaly well in multi-task environments.

I always have 3 or 4 monitors running simultaneously; I work on multi-media and Digital Audio Production, Graphics applications and web site production using Avant Browser exclusively with Front Page 2003 to preview coding, graphics, Swishmax Scenes, etc while Search, IM and Mail activity is on-going. The new builds never freeze up.

I too was set on making Firefox the one...but there are too many benefits that Avant provides effortlessly so there is no need to sort and configure plug-ins.

Some very sophisticated thought goes in to producing such a complete mechanism. It carries the most unified set of browser tools possible while maintaining very respectable speed. I like the extra set of link buttons and the integration of proven web utilities seamlessly united on the control surface. The new build is downright interesting to use.

Cons: There were moments about three builds ealier where the browser could not keep up with the mass of functionality, and this was critical, and the reason I quit using other browsers. Avant seems to have paid very close attention to writing proper script before entering the playing field and the flaws are now rare.
