Publisher's description of Windows Live SkyDrive
Windows Live SkyDrive is a free online file-storage system. For each folder you create, you choose who has access to it. Add new folders, rename them, or change who has access at any time. It includes 5GB of free online storage, available from any computer with Internet access; it offers personal, shared, and public folders -- you decide who has access to each folder; and it works well on any Windows or Macintosh computer with Firefox 1.5 or higher, or Internet Explorer 6 or higher. Your personal folders are password-protected with your Windows Live ID, so only you have access. When you create a shared folder, the friends you're sharing with need to sign in with their own Windows Live ID and password.Just like at your online bank, all file transfers are protected using Secure Socket Layers (SSL).

Version: Windows Live SkyDrive
Pros: After joining Live SkyDrive and trying it out I immediatley canceled my box.net account. Xdrive and Streamload are gone also from my desktop.
Cons: Nothing to B--ch about 5gigs for free and relative fast uploads. box.net took a weekend to upload 50 files when their server wasn't busy.

Version: Windows Live SkyDrive
"Nice software from Microsoft, useful and well laid out"
Pros: It's easy to use, it's free and there is cirtainly enough space (5GB) to justify it's use.
Cons: Not many although it can be slow to use. It's slowness probably depends on the speed of your internet connetion/computer. Also, at peak times it won't load about 40% of the pages either for a very long time or not at all.
Summary: The SkyDrive is a well thought out, laid out and concived tool and it's very good that Microsoft is providing it free. The storage space is exelent, the 5GB being more that most casual users may ever need. Executives of buisnesses may find it lackin... read more >>

Version: Windows Live SkyDrive
Pros: I really like to have everything under one roof and not having to remember a lot of user id's and passwords. 5GB for free.
Cons: Size might be bigger.
Summary: The only thing it lacks is of an appropiate way to make backups and upload them automatically. Maybe some shell extension that could add a menu option to upload selected files...that'd be awesome.
